Your first day of gorilla tracking! An early start to make your way to the park headquarters where you are assigned a ranger and a gorilla group. Tracking the gorillas can take anything from 4-8hrs in lush green, steep, muddy, terrain! It is, however, the experience of a lifetime…coming across these amiable primates in their natural surroundings is quite awe-inspiring as you watch them go about their daily lives, playing, grooming, farting and eating! • A beautiful walk this morning through the stunning foothills of the volcanoes and up to the grave of Dian Fossey and the gorillas with which she worked; a chance also to visit the remains of the Karisoke Research Centre where Dian Fossey worked.
  • Carry on further up the hillside you come to the meadow where Dian Fossey used to have her mountain hut…a beautiful pasture with views of Bisoke, Karisimbi and Sabinyo peaks.
  • Meals & drinks: Breakfast & dinner (Lunch not included) Drinking water (Other drinks not included)

Day 4: Gorilla Tracking

  • Your second day of gorilla tracking! An early start to make your way to the park headquarters where you are assigned a ranger and a gorilla group.
  • Start to trek through the bumpy bushes of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and bamboo covered slopes, searching for the amazing Mountain Gorillas.

The walk can sometimes be tough and long, but when you catch a glimpse of the magnificent primates in their natural surroundings is quite awe-inspiring as you watch them go about their daily lives, playing, grooming, farting and eating!, any discomforts will be quickly forgotten. (The gorilla excursion can take from 2 up to 8 hours. Expect to walk along distance in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead, before you encounter any gorillas.) *A good physical condition is recommended.

  • You will also have an opportunity of seeing other species like the birds, monkeys, chimpanzees, beautiful butterflies among others.
  • Return to the lodge later in the afternoon to relax, have a hot shower and reflect on the day’s activities.
  • Meals & drinks: Breakfast & dinner (Lunch not included) Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
